Virtual Participation Camp 09 starts June 22nd
Our group is supporting Participation Camp 09 by organizing a virtual component for the face-to-face gathering that will happen in New York on June 27 and 28.
Change the Rules: Democracy is a game in which we all make the rules. How do we make this serious game more inclusive, more fair, and more fun?
Participation Camp will provide the spark for an explosion of sharing, experimentation, and collaboration around this question. Participants may attend a wide range of physical and virtual presentations (or deliver one themselves), compete in a conference-wide participation game, or roll up their sleeves in a hands-on workshop.
PCamp will be hosted by ITP@NYU. There is no cost to attend. Register now.
The virtual camp will open its doors on June 22, 2009 by means of a Skype chat. You will have the opportunity to meet each other and start an open dialogue on issues relating to open governance.
On the days of the conference (27th and 28th), we will bring in virtual presenters from various locations. Their presentations will be streamed into a dedicated room of the conference and will also be available live on the web. We are also working hard to make live-streaming of a number of other presentations possible. Besides listening to (and hopefully watching) the presentations, you will be able to interact with the presenter and audience through chat.
One aspect of #PCamp09 already started. Ever played a game called Nomic? Go check out the PCamp version at http://mudball.net/nomic/. “To Win, You Must Change the Rules.”
